Features

If a NetSupport School is installed, the following features are supported when the iOS device connects:

• Student register - Teachers can request standard and/or custom information from each student at the start of a lesson and create a detailed register from the information provided.

• Lesson objectives - If provided by the teacher, students see the current lesson details, objectives and their expected learning outcomes.

• Sending messages - Teachers can broadcast messages to one, selected or all devices.

• Chat - Teachers and students can initiate a one-to-one chat session. Teachers can also invite students to participate in group discussions.

• Request help - Students can discreetly alert the teacher when they require assistance. This sends an alert to the teacher’s desktop, enabling them to respond to the student.

• Lock screen - Teachers can lock the app to gain students' attention.

• Internet restrictions - Teachers can allow access to approved websites only or block restricted websites during the lesson. Any school-wide restrictions already set in NetSupport DNA still apply and cannot be overruled in NetSupport School.

• Question and Answer module - Enables teachers to conduct instant student and peer assessment. Teachers can ask questions verbally, then select the response mode: random student, first to answer or teams. They can also bounce questions between students, ask the class to peer assess a response and score responses throughout the process.

• Class surveys - Teachers can conduct surveys to assess student knowledge and understanding. Students respond in real time, and teachers can show results and provide instant feedback.

• Show Show the Tutor's screen to Students. screen - While presenting, teachers can show their desktop to connected devices. Students can then use touch gestures to pinch, pan and zoom to focus on key information.

If NetSupport DNA is installed, the following features are supported:

• Real-time monitoring - Use the NetSupport DNA Console to view a real-time summary of all devices. View selected devices in a detailed list view or as real-time thumbnails of each device screen.

• Internet metering - The app records a summary of internet activity, including the start and finish times for each URL visited and the active time spent on a page.

• Internet restrictions - Manage internet access by enforcing approved and restricted website lists across the school.

• Safeguarding Keyword Monitoring (DNA Education version) - This tool helps schools protect students from inappropriate online content. It alerts staff when students type or search for any terms that match those in the NetSupport DNA keyword database, providing safeguarding and internet safety indicators for self-harm, bullying, radicalisation, Child Sexual Exploitation and more.

• Safeguarding Report a Concern (DNA Education version) - Students can report concerns directly and discreetly to nominated school staff.

• Safeguarding resources (DNA Education version) - Provides students with instant access to a list of appropriate online support resources.

• Hardware inventory - When the Browser launches, it automatically sends hardware inventory information to the NetSupport DNA Server.

• Enterprise alerting - Real-time alerts enable NetSupport DNA Console operators to immediately identify any user who attempts to access a restricted website or triggers a safeguarding keyword.

• Activity - NetSupport DNA Console operators can see a chronological view of device activity for a selected time period.

• Collect roaming data - If devices are used away from the network, the app can continue recording activity in the background. The stored data is uploaded to the central NetSupport DNA Server when the device reconnects.
